Circular letter, dated Oct. 27, 1853 and authored by the Whig Central Committee of Washington County, Md. It invites the Whigs of the Fifth congressional district in the State of Maryland to vote for Mr. Thomas who is running against Mr. Hamilton for a seat in Congress. The author provides its reasoning behind supporting Mr. Thomas, namely his support of education for all children in Maryland and his support of American colonization to "civilize and christianize Africa."
