	So we long to reach out to speak	1:24
	a comforting word and to feed the hungry,	1:26

	when a Ukrainian nuclear fire can easily effect	1:52

	Therefore, set us on broad horizons	2:39
	so that we see beyond ourselves,	2:43
	for we echo the word of Your servant,	2:47
	Francis of Assisi.	2:49
	Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace.	2:53
	Where there is hate may I bring love.	2:58
	Where offense, may I bring pardon.	3:03
	May I bring union in place of discord.	3:08
	Truth replacing error.	3:12

The preacher argues that in the Babel story, God’s scattering of the people was not God’s punishment on humanity but the implementation of God’s purpose for humanity to be fruitful and multiply on the whole earth. The preacher mentions two kinds of unity and two ways to form community: one is God’s way and the other is human way. Human beings form self-serving communities induced by enforced conformity and the seeking of security, as well as a desire of a sense of belonging, self-sufficiency, and autonomy in their sameness. Yet God creates differences among people so that they can rely on God alone to seek community and unity. The message of the Pentecost is that the same God who scattered us at Babel, now unites us on divine terms—as diverse and different people who are made one in Christ.
