- Title:
- William H. Willimon - "Prophets and the Powerful" (July 6, 1986)
- Description:
-
Sermon start time: (Part 1) 33:25. Sermon end time: (Part 2) 8:36.
Like King Ahab’s treatment to Naboth, the powerful usually mistreat the poor and lowly through the disguise of law or diplomatic politeness. While God does not agree with such power arrangements, God sends prophets to speak God’s words of judgment to the powerful. Preachers are compared to prophets proclaiming the Word of God, as opposed to politicians. (Abstract created by Duke Divinity School staff.)
