- | fires and goals in life | 0:01 |
here for every person. | 0:06
The Holy Spirit works in and through other persons | 0:08
and us as we relate to them | 0:12
and they relate to us. | 0:15
But beyond this type of human experience, | 0:17
mediated by the Holy Spirit, | 0:22
the truth of our faith | 0:23
is that each one of us | 0:25
has access to the presence of God. | 0:26
Everyone of us can know and feel the presence | 0:30
of God in Christ as our companion. | 0:33
Some of you know much better than I | 0:38
but all of us know that there may be moments | 0:43
when human companionship is not enough. | 0:45
Then, in those moments, | 0:50
the grace of God in and through Christ is very present. | 0:54
Christ says, "I give you another Comforter, | 0:57
"even the Spirit of Truth | 1:00
"which the world cannot give." | 1:02
The world can't take it away either. | 1:06
There's something eternal | 1:10
and ever present about this person | 1:13
and presence of Christ | 1:16
because here we are some 2,000 years | 1:17
after he lived in the flesh, | 1:19
talking about finding his presence, | 1:21
feeling his presence, knowing his presence. | 1:23
The earnest desire of Christ | 1:28
is to be a companion. | 1:30
A real person, yeah. | 1:33
For each of us today, | 1:36
now, | 1:40 | |
a presence. | 1:42 | |
As reminder of what his companionship really is constantly, | 1:44
he said, "Do this to remember me." | 1:50
Jesus knew we would forget, | 1:55
and we do. | 1:58 | |
Not because we want to | 1:59
but because experiences come | 2:01
and experiences go | 2:03
and are quickly forgotten. | 2:05
Christ says, "Come in. | 2:08
"Come in as often as you will | 2:13
"and drink this wine | 2:15
"and eat this bread and remember me. | 2:18
"And I will be with you when you come in | 2:23
"and when you go out." | 2:25
The earnest desire of Christ | 2:32
is to be with you. | 2:36 | |
Will you let him? | 2:39 | |
Now? | 2:41 | |
Amen. | 2:46 | |
As Christ, we affirm our faith together. | 3:00
- | We believe in God | 3:07 |
who has created and is creating, | 3:09
who has come in the true man Jesus. | 3:12
To reconcile and to make new the works | 3:14
in us and others by his Spirit. | 3:18
We trust him. | 3:21 | |
He calls us to be in his church | 3:23
to celebrate his presence, | 3:26
to love and serve others, | 3:29
to seek justice and resist evil, | 3:31
to proclaim Jesus crucified and risen, | 3:34

In life, in death, in life beyond death, | 3:40
