- | "And in the sixth month | 7:16 |
the angel Gabriel was sent from God | 7:17
into a city of Galilee named Nazareth | 7:19
to a Virgin, a spouse to a man whose name was Joseph | 7:22
of the house of David. | 7:26
And the virgin's name was Mary. | 7:27
And the angel came in unto her and said, | 7:30
'Hail, thou that art highly favored, | 7:33
the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women.' | 7:36
And when she saw him she was troubled at his saying | 7:41
and cast in her mind what manner of salutation | 7:43
this should be. | 7:46 | |
And the angel said him to her, | 7:48
'Fear not marry, for thou has found favor with God | 7:49
and behold thou shall conceive in womb | 7:54
and bring forth the son and shall call his name Jesus. | 7:57
And he shall be great. | 8:01
And shall be called the Son of the Highest. | 8:03
And the Lord, God shall give unto him | 8:06
the throne of his father, David. | 8:08
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever. | 8:10
And of his kingdom, there shall be no end.' | 8:13
And Mary said,' Bbehold, the handmade of the Lord, | 8:17
be it unto me according into thy word.' | 8:21
And the angel departed from her." | 8:23

- | The Christmas story is unfolding before us tonight | 11:46 |
by readings from the holy scriptures | 11:54
and by carols and special musical numbers. | 11:56
Our next lesson, we will read together. | 12:04
So will you please turn | 12:08
to the canticle section of your hymnal to of number 612? | 12:10
And we will read together the magnificent, | 12:16
which tells about the blessed virgin Mary | 12:20
rejoicing before God. | 12:25
The translation which we are using here | 12:28
is even older than the king James | 12:33
being the Coverdale translation. | 12:36
The type indicates that we would read responsibly, | 12:40
but let us read it in unison from beginning to end. | 12:44
"My soul does magnify the Lord, | 12:51
- | And my spirit had rejoiced in God, my savior | 12:55 |
for he had regarded the loneliness of his handmaiden | 12:59
for behold, from henceforth | 13:04
all generations shall call me blessed. | 13:06
For he that is mighty had magnified me and holy is his name. | 13:09
And mercy is on them that fear him | 13:16
throughout all generations. | 13:19
He had showed strength with his arm. | 13:21
He had scattered the proud | 13:24
in the imagination of their hearts. | 13:26
He had put down the mighty from their seat | 13:29
and had exalted the humble and meek. | 13:32
He had filled the hungry with good things | 13:35
and the rich he has sent empty away. | 13:38
He remembering his mercy have helped his servant Israel | 13:42
as he promised to our forefathers Abraham | 13:46
and his seed forever." | 13:50

- | Saint Matthew, tales of Christ nativity. | 17:14 |
"Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise. | 17:19
When as his mother Mary was a spouse to Joseph | 17:24
before they came together | 17:29
she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. | 17:31
Then Joseph her husband being a just man | 17:36
and not willing to make her a public example | 17:41
was minded to put her away prevelly. | 17:45
But while he thought on these things, | 17:49
behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream | 17:52
saying, 'Joseph, thou son of David | 17:59
fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife. | 18:04
For that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. | 18:09
And she shall bring forth a son | 18:15
and thou shall call his name Jesus | 18:18
for he shall save his people from their sins.' | 18:22
Now, all this was done that it might be fulfilled | 18:28
which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, | 18:32
saying, 'Behold, a virgin shall be with child | 18:36
and shall bring forth a son. | 18:42
And they shall call his name Emmanuel, | 18:46
which being interpreted is God with us.' | 18:49
Then Joseph being raised from sleep | 18:56
did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, | 18:59
and took unto him, his wife. | 19:03
And knew her not till she had brought forth | 19:07
her first born son. | 19:10
And he called his name Jesus." | 19:13

- | "The shepherds go into the manger | 21:23 |
and hey were in the same country, | 21:27
shepherds abiding in the field, | 21:28
keeping watch over their flock by night. | 21:31
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them | 21:34
and the glory of the Lord shown up round about them. | 21:37
And they were so afraid. | 21:40
And the angel said unto them, 'Fear, not, | 21:43
for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy | 21:46
which shall be to all people. | 21:49
For unto you is born this day | 21:52
in the city of David, a savior, which is Christ the Lord. | 21:54
And this shall be a sign unto you. | 21:59
Ye, shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes | 22:01
lying in a manger. | 22:04
And suddenly there was the angel | 22:07
with the multitude of the heavenly host, | 22:09
praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest | 22:11
and on earth peace, good will toward men.' | 22:17
And it came to pass as angels were gone away | 22:21
from them into heaven. | 22:24
The shepherd said one to another, | 22:26
'Let us now even unto Bethlehem | 22:29
and see this thing which has come to pass | 22:32
which the Lord has made known unto us.' | 22:35
And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph | 22:38
and the babe lying in a manger. | 22:43
And when they had seen it, | 22:47
they made known abroad the (indistinct) was told them | 22:48
concerning this child. | 22:52
And all they that had heard it wondered at those things | 22:54
which were told them by the shepherds. | 22:57
But Mary kept all these things | 23:01
and pondered them in her heart. | 23:02
And the shepherds returned glorifying and praising God | 23:05
for all the things that they had heard and seen | 23:09
as it was told unto them." | 23:12

- | "The wise man are led by the star to Jesus. | 27:05 |
Now, when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea | 27:10
in the days of Herod the king | 27:13
behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem | 27:15
saying, 'Where is he that is born king of the Jews? | 27:20
For we have seen his star in the east | 27:25
and are come to worship him.' | 27:28
When Herod the king had heard these things | 27:30
he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him. | 27:33
And when he had gathered all the chief priest | 27:37
and scribes of the people together | 27:39
he demanded of them where Christ should be born. | 27:42
And they said unto him, 'In Bethlehem of Judea | 27:46
and thus it is written by the prophet.' | 27:51
And thou Bethlehem in the land of Judah | 27:54
are not the least among the princes of Judah | 27:57
for out of thee shall come a governor | 28:01
that shall rule my people, Israel. | 28:04
Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men | 28:08
inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. | 28:12
And he sent them to Bethlehem | 28:17
and said, 'Go and search diligently for the young child. | 28:19
And when ye have found him, bring me word again | 28:24
that I may come and worship him also.' | 28:29
When they had heard the king they departed | 28:33
and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east | 28:36
went before them, till it came and stood over | 28:40
where the young child was. | 28:43
When they saw the star, | 28:45
they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. | 28:47
And when they were come into the house, | 28:50
they saw the young child with Mary his mother, | 28:53
and fell down, and worshipped him. | 28:56
And when they had opened their treasures, | 28:59
they presented unto him gifts, gold, | 29:02
and frankincense and myrrh." | 29:06

- | St. John unfoldeth the mystery of the incarnation, | 36:28 |
"In the beginning was the word, | 36:44
and the word was with God, and the word was God. | 36:48
He was in the beginning with God. | 36:57
All things were made through him. | 37:03
And without him was not anything made that was made. | 37:07
In him was life. | 37:16 | |
And the life was the light of men. | 37:21
The light shines in the darkness | 37:26
and the darkness has not overcome it. | 37:30
And the world became flesh and dwelt among us | 37:36
full of grace and truth. | 37:44
And we have beheld his glory, | 37:48
glory as of the only son from the father." | 37:52
Thanks be to God. | 38:01 | |

- | Let us pray. | 42:26 |
We commit unto thee oh, God in this glad hour, | 42:31
in this holy place, all our Christmas plans, our hopes, | 42:36
our days of leisure, our family reunions, | 42:46
our (speaks faintly) and our griefs, | 42:52
asking thy blessing upon every thought and endeavor. | 42:58
Thy control over every enterprise. | 43:03
Thy spirit of charity in our hearts and wisdom in our minds. | 43:08
That when thy son, our Lord cometh, | 43:18
he may find in us a mansion prepared for himself | 43:22
through the same Jesus Christ. | 43:29
Thy word become flesh even our savior and our Lord. | 43:33
And now as our savior, Christ has taught us | 43:44
we pray together saying, "Our Father, who art in heaven, | 43:47
hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, | 43:54
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. | 43:59
Give us this day our daily bread, | 44:03
and forgive us our trespasses | 44:07
as we forgive those who trespass against us, | 44:09
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. | 44:14
For thine is the kingdom | 44:19
and power and the glory forever. Amen. | 44:21
And the grace of the Lord, Jesus Christ | 44:27
be us all. Amen. | 44:30 | |
