- Title:
- H. Grady Hardin - "God Under Pressure" (March 8, 1987)
- Description:
-
In the temptations of Jesus we see not only the man Jesus of Nazaraeth wrestling with how he will live as the Messiah, but we also see God Almighty being put to the test. Will God bring about the kingdom through spectacular tricks and evil forces, or is God a God of dependable love? This story answers definitively the latter position. Because of this, we are free to take great risks, because we know God is dependable. (Abstract created by Duke Divinity School staff.)
Sermon start time: (Part 1) 19:50. Sermon end time: (Part 1) 43:37.
Key quotation: “It is not just Jesus going through the agonies of temptation. It is God under pressure. It is God asking God, ‘What’s the kingdom like?’”
