The preacher delicately uses the wedding party as a metaphor for the Kingdom of God, which is not achieved by works. He argues that the world is invited to the party for free, since the cost has been paid for by the death of Jesus Christ. Whoever rejects the party invitation or shows up at the party wearing disrespectful shabby clothes denies themselves the grace of God. (Abstract created by Duke Divinity School staff.)
