Moya Pons te jèn li menm pandan diktati Trujillo a, men li pale kòm istoryen sou koman rejim Trujillo a te transfòme sosyete dominiken an.
Dominican historian Frank Moya Pons discusses his book La Dominación Haitiana, which focuses on the 1822-1844 period in which Haiti, under Jean-Pierre Boyer, controlled the eastern half of the island (then known as Spanish Haiti, subsequently known as the Dominican Republic). They discuss dominicanidad (Dominicanness, Dominican identity) as opposition to Frenchness and to Haitianness -- which, in turn, means opposition to Blackness. Moya Pons himself was quite young during the Trujillo dictatorship, but he speaks as a historian about how the Trujillo regime reshaped Dominican society.
