Jean-Marie Drot discusses the life and work -- the "passionate quest" -- of the recently deceased André Malraux, particularly Malraux's love for and role in promoting Haitian painting. Drot's documentary series "Journal de voyage avec André Malraux à la recherche des arts du monde entier" followed Malraux through the world, including to Haiti to visit the painters of the Saint-Soleil school at Soisson-la-Montagne. Drot describes the experience of working with and interviewing Malraux, and says that Malraux's final encounter with the Saint-Soleil artists was very moving, even sacred.
